There are no quest markers, nothing to guide you (except the Guidance of Grace that indicates a Site of Grace to rest at). Any side-quest you find will merely be hinted at in scraps of dialogue or item notes. Unlike Sekiro, which was a straight-up action game, this is more along the lines of Dark Souls, with magic and healing and ranged and melee builds and countless combinations of gear and items. There are countless ways to craft your character to fit whatever playstyle you like. This is a brutally challenging game, though summoning and co-op should take the edge off of the most intense fights. There are tools at your disposal to make it more manageable, but anyone worried that Elden Ring was going to be easy should rest at ease. The first you’ll encounter is Stormveil Castle, and it’s easily one of the best-designed levels in any FromSoftware game, with branching paths, shortcuts, platforming and myriad deadly foes. These open areas are bookended with huge dungeons. Open-world areas are dotted with mini-dungeons, fortresses, and cathedrals that walk around on legs ringing mysterious bells.
